Who We Are:
Originally incorporated as Christian Church of Othello, we are best known in the community as Othello Christian Church, or the Polka-Dotted Church.
Our Mission
At Othello Christian Church—The Polka Dot Church—our mission is making disciples who pray deeply, welcome everyone, and care for our neighbors. We follow Jesus by nurturing spiritual depth, building inclusive community, and showing compassion through real, practical service.

We envision a growing community shaped by God’s love, committed to justice, mercy, and the flourishing of all people. As Disciples of Christ, we join with Christians everywhere to help build God’s realm—a world marked by peace, equity, and belonging.

- We celebrate communion every Sunday and our table is open to anyone who wishes to participate in remembrance of Christ.

- We baptize by immersion, but accept the baptism of other communions regardless of form used.

Polka Dots and One Million Acts of Kindness
If you spend any time in Othello, you may notice vehicles driving around with colorful polka dots. Many of our members have chosen to decorate their cars in this way as a visible sign of who we are.
In 2012 we made a commitment to do 1,000,000 acts of kindness. Whenever an act of kindness is done, it is usually accompanied by a card letting individuals know that we care about them. While there are plenty of acts of kindness going on that we have no way of counting, according to official records we average about 47,000 acts each year. That means it will take us about 22 years to reach our goal.
The Chalice
The chalice symbolizes the central place of communion in worship for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The X-shaped cross of the disciple Andrew is a reminder of the ministry of each person and the importance of evangelism.

Our congregation has adopted two variations of the chalice incorporating polka-dots reminding us that the church is made up of people from all different walks of life, but we all find a place at the table through the grace of God made available to us by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
